HELPS NFL COMMEORATE 25TH YEAR IN HAWAII
Celebration
of America's Passion Set for Kapiolani Park
The
National Football League landed in Hawaii in 1980 with the
first Pro Bowl game at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu. Now, 25
years later, the pairing of the greatest stars of America's
favorite sport with one of the premier vacation destinations
in the world continues.
To help celebrate the milestone, the NFL is pleased to announce
a free, two-day festival at Kapiolani Park on Friday, February
6 from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, February 7 (Fan Appreciation
Day) from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The event features non-stop
entertainment by some of Hawaii's hottest bands, free autographs
from NFL players and Pro Bowl cheerleaders, NFL mascots, Interactive
football games and more.
Special events at the festival include the Military Challenge
(Friday, 3:00 p.m.), Special Olympics Auction, Sassy Magazine
Music and Dance Competition, This Week Magazine's Cover Model
Search and an NFL football and cheerleading clinic.
Local merchants providing prizes and giveaways include The
Paradise Yellow Pages, Hawaiian Airlines, Macy's, Ashley Furniture
HomeStore, 24 Hour Fitness Hawaii, Aloha Tower Markeplace,
Paradise Cove and Roberts Hawaii, Kraft Hawaii and Reyn Spooner.
"This free football festival is an exciting celebration of
our sport," said JIM STEEG, NFL senior vice president of special
events. "It will give the great fans in Hawaii a chance to
experience the NFL up close in a unique and special way."
